market bags
My first market bag came out of necessity. The amount of single-use plastic bags I had accumulated under my sink got to the point where the door wouldn’t even close. Enough was enough! I decided to make my own reusable bag.
At the time, grocery stores and markets weren’t conveniently located so I needed a bag that was easy to carry on long commutes and could hold a lot. I made the straps thick to support the weight of the groceries without digging into my shoulder and long enough to wear cross-body. I tested a few net sizes and found that the bags stretch with use. I selected the one that made the most sense for carrying groceries keeping in mind its size would grow slightly overtime.
What started out as a market bag became a multipurpose bag I used all the time. In addition to shopping it was great for taking to the park, the gym, and the netting made it perfect for not tracking sand in from the beach!
After using the original grand size for a while I altered the pattern to make a couple smaller bags for less bag-reliant outings. That resulted in the petite and mini market bags perfect for quick adventures and market trips, concerts, and the general day-to-day.
